Launching Resilience: Supporting Early Learners Through Trauma-Aware Practices (1 hour)

Launching Resilience: Supporting Early Learners Through Trauma-Aware Practices (1 hour)
Developed in partnership with Erie Consortium for a Trauma Informed Community (ECTIC), this training is designed for early childhood educators and daycare staff who want to better understand and respond to the impact of trauma in young children.

Facilitated in person by professionals in the child-serving behavioral and developmental health field, this session provides a foundational understanding of trauma and how early experiences shape behavior, learning, and development. Participants will explore how children make meaning of their experiences and how that influences what we see in the classroom.

The training also focuses on practical, trauma-informed and resilience-oriented strategies that can be used right away. Participants will learn how to recognize common behaviors that may be linked to trauma, apply the principles of trauma-informed care in early learning settings, and respond to children, families, and colleagues in ways that promote safety, connection, and growth.

By the end of the session, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the “three E’s” of trauma, the “four R’s” of a trauma-informed approach, and at least one actionable strategy to support resilience in young children.
